Have you heard?  Staff members can now enroll in selected UC Berkeley Extension courses free of charge.   UC-Extension course catalogues are released in April, August, and December for the summer, fall, and spring semesters. Sign up early as some classes fill quickly.  The Fall 2014 schedule is available here

Many UC-Extension sponsored tuition courses include topics that can prevent disputes, problems or conflicts from arising in the workplace, including courses in communication, conflict resolution, problem solving, and leadership.   Following is a selected list of courses that may be helpful for you:

The sponsored tuition program is a staff development program designed to support Operational Excellence.  Eligibility requirements and procedures for enrolling are outlined at  The first step is completing the enrollment form and obtaining your supervisor’s approval.  After faxing the enrollment form to UC-Extension, you should receive an email confirmation within a few days.  If you do not receive a confirmation email, enrollment can be confirmed by contacting UC-Extension at or (510) 642-4111.   Please confirm that the course is on the sponsored tuition list and that you meet other eligibility criteria.  Questions about the program can be answered by your supervisor or by Learning + Organizational Development at  Applications for Summer 2014 classes are due on a rolling basis beginning when the course catalogue was released.  Applications are accepted until a class reaches capacity.
