Meet the Staff

Our office includes Director and Ombudsperson Sara Thacker, Associate Ombudsperson Júlia Horváth, and Assistant Ombudsperson Rachel Nicholson. When contacting our office, Rachel is the first person who will assist you in answering questions about our services and standards of practice, conducting intake, providing conflict coaching, making referrals, and scheduling appointments. Sara or Júlia then meets with employees to listen to their concerns, problem-solve, and explore a range of options that help facilitate resolution.

Júlia strives to be of service to UC Berkeley staff.  Over and over she has helped individuals tap into the creative power of self-determination:  when people are given time to reflect, they are able to develop and implement the solutions that work best for them. She is proud to work in an office that maintains a safe space for staff to address their workplace concerns.

Associate Ombudsperson

Bodi M. Regan, Associate Ombudsperson (he/him)

Bodi Regan is an Associate Ombudsperson at the University of California, Berkeley.  He also teaches in the Negotiation and Conflict Resolution Master of Science Program and the Morton Deutsch International Center for Cooperation and Conflict Resolution at Columbia University where he has taught a variety of negotiation and conflict resolution courses since 2009.

Rachel Nicholson, Assistant Ombudsperson (she/her(link is external))

Rachel has always been drawn to the culture, mission, and environment of UC Berkeley. She hopes that through her work at the Staff Ombuds Office, she can uphold the motto of the institution by empowering staff to gain knowledge and discover solutions in relation to conflict transformation.
